Minimum Requirements for 1st Kup - Red Second

1. Basic Hand and Foot Techniques

  • Riding horse stance: Down block/face block/middle body punch, in-out (palm out)/in-out (palm out)/middle body punch
  • Kicking techniques from sparring stance: Tornado roundhouse kick, Spin hook kick low/spin hook kick high
  • Combination techniques: Out-in middle block/backfist spin knife hand block/back fist, knife hand block/knife hand face block-back stance

2. Combination Kicking Techniques

  • Roundhouse kick/tornado roundhouse kick
  • Sliding hook kick/spin hook kick

3. Form - Tae Geuk Uke Jang

4. One-Step Sparring- #17 & #18

  • #17 - With RF: Double roundhouse kick (middle & face), put down and back spin heel with LF.
  • #18 - With RF: inside to outside crescent kick knocking punch away, with same foot stomp on attacker's RF: tell him to back up then turning backwards, tornado kick.

5. Self-Defense - #17 & #18

  • #17 - Both hands grabbing belt - LH pushing down on L thumb nail, turning counterclockwise 180 degrees and pushing down on wrist.
  • #18 - Front hung above waist - LH coming behind attacker's back and pulling, RH palm to chin.

8. General Knowledge

  • The Korean flag is called Tae Geuk. Various comer sections represent fire, water, sky and earth. The central design indicates that while there is a constant movement within the sphere of infinity, there are also balance and harmony.
  • The American flag was designed to demonstrate the unification of the 13 colonies as they separated from England. The flag consist of 13 stripes, each stripe representing one of the original colonies. The colors of red and white signify the courage and loyalty of the colonist. As America grew, one star was added on the field of blue for each state in the union.
